Leather Bound. Condition: Fine. This novel features Vonnegut's alter-ego, the somewhat hapless science fiction writer Kilgore Trout, in a small role in this social satire about greed, wealth, and whether it is even possible to do good. This is a book that in classic Vonnegut fashion manages to be funny, despairing, and optimistic all at the same time. Chapter 9 of this novel introduces a small excerpt from Kilgore Trout's most well-known book, Venus on the Half-Shell. This is a signed copy, bound in bonded leather and decorated in gilt. Fine, still sealed in shrinkwrap. Signed by Vonnegut.

Leather bound. Condition: Fine. Large octavo size, 289 pp., signed by Vonnegut. Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (1922-2007) wrote across a broad spectrum; from "widely satirical novels" to fantasy and science fiction, Vonnegut had a message to deliver: the "horrors and ironies of 20th-century civilization" (n.b., quotes from the online Encyclopedia Britannica). His career spanned more than five decades, during which he would write fourteen novels, three short-story collections, five plays, and five nonfiction works. This work, "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater", was Vonnegut's fifth novel, and both introduces characters which would be encountered in "Slaughterhouse Five" as well as bringing together "[s]everal.of Vonnegut's continuing themes" (n.b., quote from Wiki). One of the Collector's Edition publications by The Easton Press, signed by Vonnegut on the page tipped onto the title page; loosely laid in is the Easton Press COA and the publisher's "Note". ___DESCRIPTION: Bound in full cordovan leather over boards, gilt decorations on both boards, gilt lettering and decorations on the spine, all edges gilt, tan silk moire endpapers, Vonnegut's signature in blue ink on the tipped-in page following the half-title page, title page in red and black, original silk ribbon marker; large octavo size (9 1/4" by 6 1/8"), pagination: [i-xii] 1-275. ___CONDITION: Fine overall; the leather binding smooth and supple, the gilt bright, straight corners without rubbing, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; for some reason the printed text on page 1 is slightly out of register, else clean, crisp, and as new. ___POSTAGE: International customers, please note that additional postage may apply as the standard does not always cover costs; please inquire for details. ___Swan's Fine Books is pleased to be a member of the ABAA, ILAB, and IOBA and we stand behind every book we sell.
