Book is clean, tight, unmarked, pages fresh--nearly like new, just the slightest rubbing to bottom edge of boards. Copyright page has 3-2 but no first edition statement. Dust jacket has a few tears to top back panel, else Near Fine; see photos. Original $2.00 price intact on flap. Ads for Goodnight Moon (1947), Wait Till the Moon is Full (1948), and The Important Book (1949) but no other 1949 or any of the 1950 Brown books published by Harper mentioned. Assume 1949 printing. An absolutely lovely, seemingly untouched, very early copy of this book, normally read to pieces. Not Signed.

Nearly very good. Spine ends are bumped, light overall cover wear. The front hinge shows just the beginning of cracking. Two vertical, light creases to the title. Gentle creases to a several other leaves, near the front. Some minor stains or finger marks to several pages. A very short name to the upper, front free endpaper. There is a tiny 1/8" fleck of color to the front free endpaper and a 1/4" tear to the lower, rear free endpaper. The dust jacket is price clipped. Chips to the spine ends and corners. Several edge tears and chips. A 1" tear with associated smaller chip to the upper, front. A 2" tear to the upper, rear that has been repaired with tape to the reverse. Soiling to the rear panel. A notoriously scarce children's book in the first edition and almost never seen with the dust jacket. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall.

Bound in publisher's green cloth with titles in brownish-red on the upper board, "first edition" is stated on the copyright page, with publisher's code "M-Q" on copyright page, indicating a printing date of December, 1941. Near Fine with light softening to corners and spine ends, pages tanned with a gentle diagonal crease to several preliminary sheets, and binding slightly pulled at bottom of title page gutter. In a Near Fine unclipped ($1.50) with light edge wear, light creases to spine with light wear at edges and a thin stain to the top of the front panel; toning to blindside with evidence of tape removal once mending two short edge-tears along the edge. An exceptional copy of this perennial favorite, scarcely seen in the dust jacket and scarcely seen in such nice condition.
