Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 6.5 x 8.7 inch. The image size is ca. 3.9 x 5.1 inch.Plate 139, titled: Sacrificante (In Agata varia) - Sacrifice, carved in Multicolour Agate. It shows: A seated male, holding a sacrificial knife, and accompanied by two goats. From a scarce series of finely engraved plates. This scarse print / plate originates from: 'Le gemme antiche figurate di Leonardo Agostini Senese.à ¿½, by Leonardo Agostini, published by Giacomo Dragondelli, Rome, 1657. This work was made in conjunction with Gian Pietro Bellori (1615à ¿½1696). The first volume was devoted entirely to Cardinal Francesco's collection, which Agostini had assembled for the papal nephew. The second, to cameos and other discoveries from the auguste ruine della gran Roma, the (august ruins of great Rome). It was later translated into Latin by Jakob Gronovius in Amsterdam, 1685.Artists and Engravers: Authors: Leonardo Agostini (1593à ¿½1669) was an Italian antiquary of the 17th century.
