However, the increased recognition of intangible heritage has brought to light its undervalued status within the museum and heritage sector, and raised questions about safeguarding efforts, ownership, protective legal frameworks, authenticity and how global initiatives can be implemented at a local level, where most ICH is located. This book provides a variety of international perspectives on these issues, exploring how holistic and integrated approaches to safeguarding ICH offer an opportunity to move beyond the rhetoric of UNESCO; in partiular, the authors demonstrate that the alternative methods and attitudes that frequently exist at a local level can be the most effective way of safeguarding ICH. Perspectives are presented both from "established voices", of scholars and practitioners, and from "new voices", those of indigenous and local communities, where intangible heritage lives. It will be an important resource for students of museum and heritage studies, anthropology, folk studies, the performing arts, intellectual property law and politics. In 2012, she achieved UGC NET-JRF in Museology and Conservation. Her scholarly journey led to a Ph.D., awarded in 2016. Dr. Zarrin received the Small Study Research Grant for 2010-2011 from NTICVA (Nehru Trust for Indian Collection at Victoria and Albert Museum, London, U.K.). She holds the position of Joint Secretary at the International Council of Biodeterioration of Cultural Property and is a member of both the International Council of Museums, Paris and the Museum Association of India.With a decade of teaching experience in Intangible Heritage, she recognized a significant oversight in the attention given to intangible heritage within Indian museology leading her to author a book on the subject.Additionally, she has organized various museology workshops, conferences, and web talks, while also publishing numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at both national and international conferences., , Ms. Farha, a distinguished Research Scholar at Aligarh Muslim University's Department of Museology, achieved UGC-NET JRF.
