Condition: Good. Original B&W lithograph on wove paper. 17 × 11.5 inches. Good. Moderate foxing and toning throughout; three inch tear on the top left; four inch tear at bottom-center. Signed in the plate with the initials HB. This 1841 cartoon satirizes parliamentary figures involved in scandals or sudden displays of "virtue" in advance of elections or legislative maneuvers.John Doyle, known by the pen name H. B., was an Irish political cartoonist, caricaturist, painter and lithographer.
