Front endpaper has darkened. DJ has a drawing of a stairway to an apt. house, with an inset of a dining scene . DJ has shallow chips along the top and bottom edges, 6 small rubbed spots, and over-all soiling from shelf wear on the back panel. There are no notes on the DJ about the printing, which means this is a 1st ed. (per Zempel's First Editions book). Scans e-mailed upon request.

"Elwin Telliffe, millionaire sportsman, dies suddenly after an indulgent, reckless, carefree existence, and at the same moment a young man in a far-away town, apparently a victim of amnesia, permanently loses all trace of his identity and all memory of his past. He wakes up to find himself in Telliffe's house, and remembers himself only as Telliffe".
