The drawings depict the caterpillar and butterflies in their natural habitat, among plants and tree leaves. Extensive illustrated manuscript which provides a detailed description of butterflies, noting on the differences between male and female specimens, nocturnal or diurnal butterflies, as well as the different species. It speaks about the life cycle of the butterfly, as is seen in its four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult (butterfly).
