Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Wrappers. Inscribed by the author to Conrad Lewis, "For Conrad on his [74th] Birthday With love, David IOW 15.VII.96". "Why do you translate?" asked Michèle Duclos. "Does that particularly interest you?" "Oh, yes!" replied David Gascoyne. "It always has done. And at times when one can't write poems oneself it represents ways of creating equivalents of poems that one likes or admires." Gascoyne found a kinship with Conrad Lewis, the elder brother of Judy Gascoyne's first husband, Michael Lewis. He was an artist who taught at Chester College of Art. Inscribed by Author(s).
