Superb "Cosway" binding of brown morocco by Riviere & Son, the upper cover incorporating a fine watercolor circular miniature of the author on ivory by Miss C. B. Currie under glass and framed by narrowly-spaced gilt lines radiating out from the miniature forming a star shape with a double gilt fillet border; spine gilt in compartments of oval sun with radiating rays, with titles and date in gilt; "COSWAY BINDING" in gilt to fore-edge of upper board and "INVENTED BY J. H. STONEHOUSE" to fore-edge of lower board; pale gray watered-silk doublures and endpapers with "Miniatures by C. B. Currie" at foot of lower doublure; binding signed at foot of front turn-in; preserved in cloth covered board slipcase. A FINE EXAMPLE OF A SIGNED CURRIE "COSWAY" BINDING of circa 1930 with certificate bound in at beginning stating, "This is No. 915 of the Cosway Bindings invented by J. H. Stonehouse, with Miniatures on Ivory by Miss Currie;" signed by both, Stonehouse as "Inventor" and Currie as "Artist.". Signed by Illustrator(s).
