Head and tail of spine well bumped. Spine itself is well scuffed, faded and showing some wear and tear, particularly at the back hinge which is split. Back cover is close to detached. Several places on front and back covers marked and scuffed. General light/white discolouration (see image). Corners of boards smooth and a little worn. Page edges are discoloured. Pages are discoloured and lightly foxed, heavy staining on endpapers and pastedowns. Binding tidy. Pages are thumbed. Due to the spine damage we unfortunately have to describe the condition of this book as poor. *We always describe the faults of our books meticulously but they usually present better than they sound.

Indecipherable signature dated London 1944 on title page where author often signs; seems unlikely that it is either pseudonymous author or the translator. With AK (or KA) stamp. A little foxing; small label on front free end paper; price of 18/- on dust jacket spine; some wear to dust jacket, with loss at head of spine affecting title; dj protected in removable clear film.
