Hardcover. Condition: Poor. No Jacket. 1st Edition. First edition.Translated from German by Gerald Griffin. With 17 illustrations. Blue boards with gilt lettering on the front spine. Head and tail of spine well bumped. Spine itself is well scuffed, faded and showing some wear and tear, particularly at the back hinge which is split. Back cover is close to detached. Several places on front and back covers marked and scuffed. General light/white discolouration (see image). Corners of boards smooth and a little worn. Page edges are discoloured. Pages are discoloured and lightly foxed, heavy staining on endpapers and pastedowns. Binding tidy. Pages are thumbed. Due to the spine damage we unfortunately have to describe the condition of this book as poor. *We always describe the faults of our books meticulously but they usually present better than they sound.
