Some light toning to pastedowns. In original unclipped dust jacket with $2.50 on flap. Jacket has some minor chipping to top and bottom of spine and some rubbing to top and bottom edge. Overall, a near fine copy of this very rare and sought-after title. This novel was the basis of the beloved film of the same title (1953, directed by the legendary George Stevens) which starred Alan Ladd in the title role and with Jean Arthur, Van Heflin, and a youthful [Walter] Jack Palance.
