Waving a stick about, the boy leads a flock of sheep, cows, goats and a donkey past a ruined building in a rocky landscape. Etching on hand laid paper, sheet size 282 x 204 mm., platemark 270 x 189 mm., etching by Christiaan W.E. Dietrich (1712-1774) after his own design (but in the manner of Nicolaas van Berchem). Signed and dated 1740 in the plate lower right. In very good condition, some surface damage in the margin near the lower platemark, margin edges faintly discoloured.
