Wrappers. Slightly creased. Loosely inserted a presentation typed note signed from the author ("Our Christmas card . . . J. & G."). Born in Leicester, John Barclay Pick (1921-2015, married 1943 Gene Atkinson, 1924-2019) wrote novels and short stories, and became an authority on David Lindsay, author of A Voyage to Arcturus; in the 1980s he settled in Galloway, and developed a distinctly Scottish identity - publishing a biography of Neil Gunn, contributing to the development of Canongate Classics, writing on Scottish fiction. From 1979, most years, he had the habit of issuing a small volume of poetry sent to his friends as a "Christmas card", the cover usually designed by his wife, Gene.
