Ephemera. Condition: Very good overall. First printing. Lovely snowy fields in a winter Connecticut countryside, delicately rendered in this elegant signed etching by the Canadian artist Kerr Eby. The New York rare print dealer Frederick Keppel & Co. label from the back of the frame is present. Kerr Eby (1890-1946) Canadian illustrator best known for his poignant W.W.I art is held in similar esteem to Harvey Dunn and other war time artists dispatched to cover the First World War. Eby studied at the Pratt Institute and Art Students League of New York, and served in an ambulance crew in the first World War, recording images which eventually were published in a work titled 'War'. He was elected to the National Academy of Design in 1934. In the Second World War he worked in the combat artists program created by Abbott Laboratories and landed with the Marines at Guadalcanal. Etching, signed in pencil lower right. 15 1/2 x 10". Archivally conserved by the Green Dragon Bindery. The etching is held in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum.
