Ce très beau texte retrace la vie de l'artiste, analyse certains de ses tableaux, évoque le groupe des Fauves, décrit ses nuits à Montmartre, ses participations au Salon d'automne et au Salon des indépendants, la galerie Druet qui a présenté pendant seize ans ses peintures avec peu de succès.
