Mit dem 1913 einzigartigen Gemälde »Bal Bullier« legt Sonia Delaunay- Terk nicht nur die Basis für ihre eigene künstlerische Weiterentwicklung, sondern auch für die charakteristischen vibrierend-abstrakten Scheibenbilder ihres Mannes. Mehr als den meisten ihrer Kolleginnen gelingt es Sonia Delaunay-Terk, aus dem Schatten des »Künstler-Mannes« zu treten. »Alles Wissende und Weise stammte von ihm. Ich war die Spontaneität«, erinnert sie sich. Und Jean Cassou schreibt: »Sie waren eben dafür geschaffen, sich zu verstehen, und sie haben sich verstanden.« Eine Gegenüberstellung der beiden Lebenswerke gibt diesen Worten recht.
