This copy is inscribed and numbered by the author as "249/400" by the author (see picture). A fascinating and well researched work in which the author, a practioner of experimental archaeology, duplicated experiences recorded in eighteenth century documents using only tools and clothing of the woodsmen of the time. He remained in the wilderness for extended periods of time doiing his research. The basis of the book was his graduate thesis in American Studies. He served as a personal coach to Daniel Day-Lewis in preparation for his role in Last of the Mohicans. Signed.
