First Edition. Inscribed on front endpaper: "Very Sincerely / Desmond Bittinger / Africa." Octavo. Yellow cloth hardcover; 254pp; frontispiece map; 8 unnumbered leaves of photographic plates (halftones). Bright copy with just a touch of soil to board edges; spine cloth a shade sunned, Very Good to Near Fine. Contemporary ownership inscription beneath author's signature. Lacks the dustwrapper. Bittinger (1905-1991) was a Church of the Bretheren missionary in northern Nigeria (then Soudan) from 1930 to 1938. Signed.
