The binding design on this volume is an authorized facsimile of the original art binding on the official copy of the Versailles Peace Treaty, which was signed by the President of Uruguay and deposited in the Archives of the Government of Uruguay. In remarkably good condition in green cloth with gilt decorated front, spine and titles. Corners and spine edges lightly sciffed. Sewn binding tight and solid, square, endbands. Hinges intact. Top edge gilt. Fore-edge and lower edge rough cut. May be some uncut leaves. Frontis plate with lettered and illustrated guard. Three other plates, monotone. Internals lightly toned, in remarkably good condition--clean, no markings, no creases or tears. Each volume is a facsimile of the various countries at the Versailles Peace Treaty finalizing WWI, including their crest/coat of arms/signets and gilt decorations. This Volume is the original art binding on the copy signed by the President of Uruguay and deposited in the Archives of the Government of Uruguay. Top edge is bright gilt. Book is tight, square, sharp-cornered and free of markings and flaws inside and out. Nice frontispiece engraving with captioned tissue guard - "The Last Stroke for World Empire - Great German Tank Attack in its final advance to the Marne." Three other illustrations all with captioned tissue guards. A comprehensive and readable source record of World War I with emphasis on important events.
