Printed paper wraps. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 8vo. Pp. 283 (1). Illustrated with b&w photo reproductions on coated paper. Edges untrimmed. Bound in printed illustrated wraps. Age-toning and slight wear. Inscribed by Liedekerke on the half-tile page, with the recipient's name partially erased by a previous owner. A Very Good copy. A lovely title: "Under the Smile of Buddhas." Excellent photos depict a variety of scenes that captured the author's tour, including village scenes, water views, including sampans, temples and other architecture and ethnographic depictions. The author and wife evidently traveled in party by a large 1920s sedan, shown in one photo as helplessly mired in mud.
