Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. "First Edition" and LCCN 64-11688 on its copyright page, with publisher's original "$5.95" price on its jacket's front flap. This 61 year old book is in very good condition, marred only by a bump on its covers' back top left corner, light wear on its spine ends, and some rub spots on the cloth of its covers. Its binding is sound. Covers are unmarked and otherwise unworn, with bright gilt titles on its front and spine. Pages are unmarked and unworn, with just a trace of toning along its pages' top edges. Its dust jacket, now protected by a removable mylar cover, is whole and also in very good condition for its age, marred by a bookstore's hand-written price on its front flap, two long thin smudges on its back, some light wear on the ends of its spine and flap folds, plus very thin scrapes along its spine folds. I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its new owner in the same condition as my description.…

Add to basketCloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. This work was written by a renowned historian of the frontier and describes life on the frontiers of the Ohio and Mississippi valleys between the Revolution and the Civil War. This era was more primitive and lawless than any since known in America. Vicious brutality stalked hand-in-hand with crime. The long-barreled, single-shot rifle, the tomahawk and the hunting knife did the work later accomplished by the repeating rifle and the six-shooter. The book contains illustrations, footnotes, a bibliography, and an index. The endpapers serve as maps. Light wear to the jacket, now in fresh mylar; otherwise, this HARDCOVER copy is clean and solid. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, inscribed on the half-title page. Lorence Bjorklung (illustrator). Signed by Author(s).…
