Qualche traccia d'uso, ma buoni es.(9590) Sono qui riuniti il campionario dei caratteri in linotipia del 1923, ed il supplemento del 19…28 ("This Supplement shoulkd be used in conjunction with Linotype Faces, One-Line Specimens, 1923") della celebre azienda londinese "Linotype and Machinery Ltd.", nota anche con la sigla "L&M", all'epoca dominante sul mercato europeo. La "Linotype Company" (azienda tuttora esistente) nacque nel 1899, per iniziativa dell'editore Joseph Lawrence, che aprì diversi stabilimenti in Inghilterra (il più importante era quello di Manchester), e si unì poi alla "Machinery Trust Ltd", unificando le due denominazioni, con filiali in tutto l'impero coloniale britannico. Cavalcando la rivoluzione della Linotipia, arrivò alla cifra record di 30.000 macchine vendute allo vigilia dello scoppio della Grande Guerra. La prima e la seconda guerra mondiale (come avvenne in Italia per la Nebiolo) obbligarone le aziende a riconvertirsi transitoriamente alla produzione bellica, e questo catalogo è una delle testimonianze della ripresa dell'attività negli anni Venti.
