Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated by Flannery O'Connor (illustrator). First Edition; First Printing. Deep brown covers with blindstamped title and decoration in faded gilt. Some light edge wear along with bumped corners. Expected aging as well as much writing in ink to former owner. Still square and securely bound, a very attractive copy. Flannery O'Connor completed work on her B.A. at Georgia State College for Women in three years, and this college annual for her middle year documents the range of her involvement in college life. Her name and photographs appear as a member of the sophomore class, the Town Girls' Club, the International Relations Club, The Corinthian (creative writing journal), the Colonnade (student newspaper on which O'Connor was Art Editor), and the Spectrum for which O'Connor "of cartoon fame, was the bright spot of our existence." Eight of O'Connor's linocut cartoons form section heads throughout the annual. This copy belonged to Bettie Sue "Cooter" Sumford, also a sophomore at the time. The volume bears many inscriptions from classmates to her throughout, though apparently nothing from O'Connor. A photograph of Sumford is laid in. ; B&W Linocut Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 147 pages.

Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Three rare yearbooks documenting the creative college years of acclaimed Southern writer Flannery O'Connor. Her linocut illustrations (which received renewed attention with a Fantagraphics collection in 2012) are very prominent in the 1944 & 1945 volumes, making up the endpapers of the latter and heading its every chapter. There are also numerous photos of her in her various endeavors as editor of The Corinthian (GSCW's literary quarterly), and participant in the yearbook, the International Relations Club, the Town Girls' Club (for student relations) and the Newman Club (for Catholic students). A rare showcase of her formidable creativity and personality in context. First and only editions. 144; 146; 156 pp. Three volumes. Original faux leather bindings. Very Good with soiling to covers and light wear, rubbing to letter, occasional slight foxing to contents, various notes in margins and underlining as is typical with a yearbook. Small knife slit to a single volume.Includes tipped-in note on what appears to be a square of wrapping paper, "For Herman Happy New Year from the O'Connors," which is quite possibly written by Regina O'Connor, mother of the famous writer.
