Full leather covers are rough with damage to edges and the bottom of the spine is separating and missing a one inch piece, The original spine title in red and gold is in good condition. Nachfolger von Nicolas Sanson (1600 - 1667), Robert de Vaugondy (1686 - 1766) und Rigobert Bonne (1727 - 1794), deren Atlanten er nachdruckte. Hat auch Geographie unterrichtet. Zu seinen Werken gehört neben Karten und Kugeln auch eine Abhandlung über die Nutzung der Kugel und der Himmels- und Erdkugeln. In der Abhandlung veranschaulicht er sowohl das ptolemäische als auch das kopernikanische System und listet alle alten und modernen Konstellationen auf. Sein Sohn Félix Delamarche (18. Coiffe de tête absente, celle de queue en partie manquante, nerfs frottés, mors supérieur du premier plat fendu sur 2,5cm, coins émoussés. Les deux plus grandes planches présentent des déchirures sans manque. Longue note manuscrite du XIXème siècle sur le premier contreplat se prolongeant sur une petite partie de la première garde. Ex-libris d'une bibliothèque de La Rochelle, également XIXème sur la page de titre. Première publication concernant la sphère mouvante de Pigeon et Delure qui signent ici la dédicace à Louis XIV. Contemporary binding in full speckled brown sheep, spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt compartments and fleurons as well as a red morocco title-label, board edges ruled with gilt, all edges red. Head-cap absent, tail-cap partially missing, bands rubbed, upper joint of front board cracked for 2.5cm, corners bumped. The two largest plates show tears without loss. Long manuscript note from the 19th century on front pastedown extending onto a small part of first endpaper. Bookplate from a La Rochelle library, also 19th century, on title page. First publication concerning the moving sphere of Pigeon and Delure who here sign the dedication to Louis XIV. The king acquired the first armillary sphere of their manufacture the previous year; it is one of the first to be based on Copernicus's heliocentric system. * (24) 377 pp. (4).
