Varney was a pro-Communist poet and professor at NYU. Although mostly forgotten today, he published numerous volumes of proletarian verse and was extolled by poets such as Robi…nson Jeffers and Wallace Stevens. Blue cloth has bleached spotting, especially egregious along the spine, with very slight wear to board edges; in an unclipped dust jacket, which is slightly chipped at spine ends with a vertical crease to front panel. Good+ overall. A nice association copy.
