This is a complete 6 volume set of nonfiction alcohol problem books called the Standard Encyclopedia of the Alcohol Problem, copyright 1925, possible first editions with no other dates found, hard covers, no dust jackets, with Ernest Hurst Cherrington as Editor-in-Chief. The books have usual college library markings, some slight bumped corners, otherwise in good condition with tight bindfings and a total of 2939 pages. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Photos, 10 x 7.25, blue cloth, pp 845-(1440), double cols, extremities worn and bumped, covers soiled else good.

The Evangeline Residence, run by the Salvation Army, provided safe and affordable housing for young women in the early 20th century. Well illustrated with in-depth multi-national contents. Some of the entries: "Alcoholism And Crime", "Blue Laws", "College Drinking Customs", "Communion Wine", "Drink In Fiction", "Druggists And Prohibition", "Habitual Drunkards' Acts", "Inebriate Institutions".
