[ABECEDARIAN] [RHYMING VERSE]. 4to (10 ½" x 8 3/8"); [12]pp; glazed stiff wrapper; chromolithograph of a boy in a sailor suit holding a U.S. flag on the front, three children dressed in red, white, and blue with a U.S. flag on the rear; color illustrations throughout; light scuffing and general wear to wrapper, newer staples at fold with some previous paper conservation; very good. One of McLoughlin Bros. alphabet books for children, this one features an American patriotic theme and bright chromolithographs. Accompanying the patriotic illuminated alphabet are small vignettes defining each word. Several spelling and reading lessons are included, and a rhyming verse is titled "Alphabet Jingles," "Great A, little a, / Bouncing B, / The cat's in the cup-board, / and can't see me.".
