A memoir of a particular literary milieu in late-50s New York, commisioned by John Martin as a free gift to be included with copies of books by George Economou, Jerome Rothenberg, Armand Schwerner, and Diane Wakoski being published by Black Sparrow. This version, whose cover listed the names of eight poets (the aforementioned, as well as Kelly, David Antin, Clayton Eshleman, and Rochelle Owens), was suppressed when several of those listed objected. The pamphlet was redesigned and reprinted, and the original edition destroyed, though copies are perhaps not as uncommon as once thought. 12mo.

Very fine in printed wrappers, which reads on the front cover: ÒStatement / antin / economou / eshelman / mac low / owens / rothenberg / schwerner / wakoski. by Robert KellyÓ This is the Òunpublished editionÓ which was commisioned by the publisher, John Martin, with the intention of being included as a gift with copies of select upcoming books, but the design of this original cover was rejected by some of the poets, and the whole project was subsequently redeigned and reprinted, with this original edition being largely destroyed in the process.

Morrow & Cooney #23a; the 'unpublished edition', scheduled to be distributed free of charge with 4 upcoming books of the press (by Economou, Schwerner, Rothenberg and Wakoski), but dropped after some poets objected to the implications of the upper wrapper (after which the pamphlet was redesigned and the bulk of this issue was destroyed).
