Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Revised Edition. Slightly different from many county histories, The Story of Inyo devotes almost half of its length to information about the native Piute Indians. An introductory chapter reviews the geology of the county (includes both Death Valley and Mount Whitney, the lowest and highest points in the contiguous United States), followed by numerous chapters on the Piute Indians, continuing with chapters about the Piutes conflicts with white settlers. About halfway through, it begins to resemble a more typical county history, with chapters about early settlers, businesses (in this case, mines), and development of the county. Both book and just jacket in very good condition for a 90-year-old book, Fourth printing 1959. 6¼ x 9¼ inches, 437 pages.
