Author wrote a introduction in March 1889, which states "the original Story of Patsy was written and sold some seven years ago for the benefit of the Silver Street Free Kindergartens in San Francisco" . and. "this is the first time placed in the hands of publishers". This story is double the length of the 1882 version. The front end paper has a beautiful hand written inscription which is dated 1912. That makes this book at least 113 years old. The author also wrote Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. Light green cloth covers are clean and unmarred. Illustration imprinted on front cover and black lettering on spine are very clean and unmarred. There is light fading and soiling to spine and wear to the top & bottom of spine and the corners. Binding firm- no loose signatures. No DJ. Interior pages are without creases, or writing except for inscription on FEP. Pages are foxing & there are smudges and soil marks an general wear on the pages where you would turn the pages. There are 17 full page or quarter page B&W illustrations, including frontispiece. Note: We use "Fine" book condition judiciously; only when the book exhibits no flaws. A Fine book closely approaches 'As New' condition and may not have been previously owned. Any flaws (writing, tears, creases) are exceptions to a Fine condition and should be clearly described for a book and dust jacket.

Cloth. Condition: Good. No Jacket. The dark red cover has the title in black with a drawing of two children, the title on the spine is in black. The corners and spine top and bottom, have a bit of shelf wear; the bottom of the covers have water stain. The endpapers are age yellow with water stain which is red from cover; there is an ink inscription dated 1907. The interior although aged is quite bright, there are a few finder smudges toward the end of the book. The nine in the copyright date of this book is upside down. .

Unstated first edition--i.e., 1889 on the title page and in the author's copyright with no additional editions or printings being stated. Markings (including a penned 1930 non-author gift inscription) on the ffep. A least a couple of pages also have shadows as a result of a now yellowed 1892 newspaper article being laid in. The contents ([xii +] 68 pp.) otherwise appear mark-free, complete, and securely bound. Decorated orange paper half-bound in brown leather with black spine lettering. Well rubbed corner tips and some rubbing in the spine's head and tail edges. No ex-library markings!
