Couverture rigide. Condition: Bon. Edition originale. The writer George Robert Gleig Scottish soldier and priest wrote a series of articles for Blackwood's Magazine on his Peninsular War experiences. They were collected into a book published anonymously for the first time by William Blackwood Edinburgh and T. Cadell London in 18…25 as "The Subaltern". It 's he narrative of a junior officer in the final stages of the peninsular campaign, 1813-14, from the siege of San Sebastian, and over the French border and eventually to the siege of Bayonne. Half - leather binding with corners . The spine was decorated with a military motif (helmet at the end of a sword and above two crossed axes) nets and a title piece engraved with fine gold. This spine show signs of wear. The dishes are marbled. Interior is in good condition, 373 pages.
