Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine under illustrated dust jacket, illustrated throughout, 383 pp. Second printing. Fine in fine jacket. This book is based on articles contributed to Practical Mechanics by Norman Hunter (1899-1995). Hunter is best known today for his Professor Branestawm series, the first of which was illustrated by W. Heath Robinson. However, he was also a performing magician, and these articles explain an amazing spectrum of secrets kept by stage and parlor magicians, spiritualists, con men, and mentalists. A feast for those interested in the construction of gimmicks.
