The author is a native of Florence, South Carolina and is part of the Young Pecan business family. The author's interest in poetry began after an eight year long friendship with South Carolina's most famous Poet Laureate Archibald Rutledge. His friendship with Rutledge continued until Rutledge's death in 1973. Archibald Rutledge has written the foreword in which he praises Benton's talent as a poet. Benton also wrote "Eulogy t o Archibald Rutledge" which was read at Rutledge's induction to the Hall of Fame for South Carolinians in 1984. Benton dedicated this book to his wife and to Archibald Rutledge. Also included is the author's business card. Photos throughout. Signed by Author.
