Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. ON TARGET - The Story of the 2/3rd Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment By C. J. E. Rae, A. L. Harris & R. K. Bryant A scarce and highly collectable 1987 First Edition regimental history, published by the 2/3rd Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Association. This is an especially interesting author-inscribed Association presentation copy, signed by co-author and long-serving Association Secretary C. J. E. Rae (Cec Rae) and dated May 1987, the year of publication. The inscription reads: "With the compliments of 2/3 Australian Light Anti Aircraft Regiment Association" and is signed: C. J. E. Rae Hon. Secretary May 1987 HISTORIC ANZAC HOUSE PROVENANCE This particular copy was formerly held in the Victorian Branch Library, ANZAC House, and retains its original Victorian Branch/ANZAC House library and property stamps together with the old library classification label on the spine. Rather than being an anonymous ex-library copy, its markings provide an interesting chain of provenance: the book appears to have been presented by the Regiment Association through co-author and Honorary Secretary Cec Rae to the Victorian Branch in the year it was published. THE REGIMENT On Target records the history of the 2/3rd Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, from its formation on 18 July 1940 until its disbandment on 14 July 1943, together with the subsequent wartime service of its 7th, 8th and 9th Batteries through to the end of World War II. The unit saw service across some of the most important Australian campaigns of WWII, including: TOBRUK - CRETE - WESTERN DESERT - SYRIA - PORT MORESBY - MILNE BAY - LAE - BUNA - BORNEO The book provides a detailed account of the Regiment and individual batteries and includes photographs, illustrations, operational material, Honours and Awards, Association history, bibliography and an extensive Nominal Roll. BOOK DETAILS Title: On Target - The Story of the 2/3rd Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Authors: C. J. E. Rae, A. L. Harris & R. K. Bryant Publisher: 2/3rd Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Association Year: 1987 Edition: First Edition ISBN: 0 7316 0049 5 Pages: 347 Binding: Hardcover with original illustrated dust jacket CONDITION A good, complete-looking example of this scarce Australian WWII unit history, retaining its original dust jacket. The dust jacket shows expected age and handling wear, including rubbing, marks, edge wear and some small areas of damage, particularly around the lower portion. The book itself presents well for its age. As noted above, this is an ex-Victorian Branch Library / ANZAC House copy and retains library stamps and the classification label to the lower spine. Most importantly, the title page carries the May 1987 presentation inscription signed by co-author C. J. E. Rae, together with the stamp of the 2/3 Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Association. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description and show the actual book offered for sale. A SCARCE AUSTRALIAN WWII REGIMENTAL HISTORY An excellent addition to a collection of Australian Army, 2nd AIF, Tobruk, Crete, New Guinea, Borneo, anti-aircraft artillery or Australian WWII unit histories. Physical copies of On Target have long been out of print and are increasingly difficult to obtain, particularly examples retaining their dust jacket. This copy is made considerably more interesting by its author/Association presentation inscription and ANZAC House provenance. 1987 FIRST EDITION - ORIGINAL DUST JACKET - AUTHOR INSCRIBED - ASSOCIATION PRESENTATION COPY - ANZAC HOUSE PROVENANCE.…
