Leather spine mostly perished with only worn bottom third partially present; several dark ink stains to remnant spine leather and overlapping joint leather; wood grain pattered boards with wear along beveled edges particularly at corners. Deckle edges. Past owner's personal name/address label affixed at front pastedown's center top; a few minor spots of soiling to interior pages. Text block binding is firm. Only a good copy at best. Publisher's limitation statement on half-title verso: "Of this volume . . . 3290 copies have been printed from type in October, 1928, of which 3250 are for sale, and the type has been destroyed.".

A very good copy of this attractive hardback, designed by William Dana Orcutt, and manufactured by the Plimpton Press, Norwoods, Massachusetts, under his personal supervision. The cover is a modern adaptation of Medieval leather and oaken/board binding. The spine is in brown leather and the covers have a simulated wood effect. Covers with some wear to boards and the spine leather is rubbed and worn. Gilt title to spine. Printed on a high quality hand-made Italian paper from Fabriano Mills. The fore-edge and lower edge are rough-cut as issued. Bookplate of Antony Charles Thomas to first pastedown. He was a British Historian, archaeologist and Professor of Cornish at Exeter University. His armorial bookplate features a Cornish motto which translates as 'Your Duty is not to be taken lightly'. Text is bright and clean throughout and presents very well. There are 8 lovely full page plates (all as called for). Text in English. Pages unnumbered, but there are 92 pages we believe. Dimensions: approximately 288mm high x 199mm wide x 18mm deep.
