Discoloration to top two inches of front board; dime-sized stain at top of rear board. Shelfwear to edges. Two corners nudged. Previous owners name in orange to front free endpaper. Light age-toning to pages. Top inch of dustjacket raggedly removed across entire jacket, but all words intact. One inch closed tear at base of dustjacket front. "The Theoretic Arithmetic of the Pythagoreans," was first published in 1816 and provides a summary of the philosophical and mystical properties of numbers and mathematical operations. Previous owner Mary Loitz (c.1873 - 1969) joined the New York Theosophical Society in 1915 and was an avid, lifelong reader of Manly Hall's works. Included with the purchase is a one-page biography of Mary Loitz written by her granddaughter, and a 2019 letter from The Theosophical Society confirming Mary Loitz's membership. Signed.
