Casey, M.D." at top of front free endpaper, title page, and rear pastedown; red ink number stamp at bottom center of ffep which seems to have been Dr. Casey's personal library catalog# (per other number stamps among books from his collection); a few scatter spots of soiling to interior leaves which otherwise remain clean; rear free endpaper's bottom fore-edge corner creased. Binding is firm. With "Preface to the Second Edition," "Preface to the First Edition," Bibliography, and General Index. Book was acquired from the estate of Birmingham, Alabama pathologist, bibliophile, and genealogist Dr. Albert Eugene Casey (1903-1982) who served as director of laboratories at Birmingham Baptist Hospitals from 1942-1972. The aforementioned O'Casey bookplate heralds Dr. Casey's interest in the family genealogies of his Irish immigrant forebearers.
