Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No dust jacket as issued. 1st Edition. First U.S. Edition, dated 1872 on the title page and with matching dates. Very scarce edition. Tightly bound in black pebbled cloth with gilded titles and embossed designs. The cloth is split at the front outer hinge but the binding remains tight. The covers show rubbing at edges, overall shelf wear and a light spine slant, remains Very Good. This copy is from a 19th Century private lending institution, the Mercantile Library of New York City. There are no external indications of the library's ownership. The Mercantile Library stamp is on the title page, endpaper and some of the internal pages. A hand written number and the name "Keene" are also penned to the title. The contents include a few technical illustrations. The pages have some minor spotting and torn corners at p. 193 and the rear endpaper. A very nice copy of a scarce title. Insured domestic Priority Mail and international shipping may require added postage charges.
