February 26, 1835. Maysville, Kentucky. An autograph letter signed Wm. Tureman to his son, Joseph Tureman regarding the status of boats. Dear Joseph I now in…form you that there has come four boats from Pittsburgh and says the River is open with the exception of the Allegany. They reached here through heavy ice but this morning the ice is much thinner and I suppose will be clear by tomorrow but it is possible when the Allegany breaks unless the weather turns warm the ice may cause some stops to a boat ascending the river but perhaps not more than one day Therefor upon the whole I suppose you might safely come on the first of next week You will write me what day you expect to come.
