Paperback. Small 4to. Stiff brown wrappers. (10pp). Fine. Lovely and tight copy of this fine edition, limited to 200 copies, with Icelandic and English texts side by side. An Old Norse narrative poem, it dates possibly as early as the ninth century a.d. Colophon at rear notes "Designed by K.M." -- and best of all this is KM's personal copy, with the custom "KM" bookplate of K. Kimber Merker (1932-2013), founder of Iowa's noted Stone Wall Press, affixed inside the front wrapper.

First Edition. First edition thus. Limited edition of 200 copies with English translation opposite original Icelandic poem. Final version by Anselm Hollo & Sidney Berger. INSCRIBED BY BERGER on half-title page, "Sept. 11, 1970/ To John McGalliard/ with infinite appreciation/ for more than can ever be repaid./ Sidney Berger." John McGalliard (1906-1993) was a widely known scholar and teacher of Old English, Old Norse, and other medieval subjects at the University of Iowa from 1931 to 1975. THRYMSKVITHA, one of the best known poems from the Poetic Edda, describes the theft and recovery of Thor's hammer. Corners bumped, otherwise near fine in stiff paperwraps. Signed.
