The third-fifth edition with addition of critical Notes and Observations, and References to other Reports and Authorities. Vol. I. (.V.) Oktav. Zusammen VII, 2.834, (200) S. I:1812 - 5th ed. VII, 653 S.; II: 1812 - 5th ed. S.654-1.235; III: 1812 - 4th ed. S.1235/6-1924; IV: 1812 - 3rd ed. S. 1925-2584; V: 1812 - 3rd ed. S. 2585-…2.834; 100 ungez. Bll. Index. 5 zeitgemäße Halbleinenbände. Gesamtausgabe der reports of cases aus dem Jahre 1812! James Burrow (1701-1782), first edition: 1765. These volumes are the faithful, repositories of Lord Mansfield`s decisions. Burrow is an indefatigable, accurate, and pains-taking reporter. From his constant attendance in the Court of King`s Bench, from his regular and methodical method note taking, as well as from the facilities of access to the records afforded him by his office, he was enabled to give a complete history of each cause. "The material facts of the cases are luminously detailed; the arguments of counsel cricumstantially, but not tediously reported; and the opinions of the Court accurately and satisfactorily stated. On the principles of the lex mercatoria these volumes may be considered a copious and original fountain. Burrow is to be regarded as, of all other reporters, the most elementary and methodical, and, therefore, best suited instruction to the student." The great reputation of the judge, whose decisions Burrow records, will perpetuate the reporter`s name, "like a column designed to perpetuate the fame of some illustrious action or the memory of a great name." The American editions are, 5 vols., 8vo., Philadelphia, 1808; 2 vols., 8vo., condensed, New York 1833. (Marvin 165) Life of Blackstone 109.
