A pleasing association copy, SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Simon on the front free endpaper to Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart: "To Potter Stewart: My very warmest best wishes always to a great American and a good friend. Bill Simon." Stewart was an Associate Justice on the court for more than two decades; a center-right jurist who often dissented from the Warren Court's decisions. Simon was appointed by Nixon as his Treasury Secretary just before his resignation; he would serve through Ford's term.
