Original hand coloured copperplate etching. Image size is 14.8cm x 17.5cm. Housed in a frame that is sized 37cm x 39cm. Etching hand painted in water colour by the artist. Below the etching is a hand drawn fine red line and the artist proof mark plus artist signature written in pen. Made on heavy cream paper. Cream acid free window mat borders illustration. A simple but lovely two toned wooden frame. Back blocked in heavy tan paper with Joyce Williams Gallery label. Two small chips along the frames outer edge, but in over all near fine condition. Original etching used in The Folio Society's release of Kenneth Grahame's "Wind in the Willows". The etching depicts Toad sitting on a wicker chair smoking a pipe and reading a large folding map. This etching is unique as the maps directions were hand drawn by the artist and not a part of the copperplate etching process. Framed by Joyce Williams Gallery, who Van Sandwyk has worked closely with over his career.
