[7], viii-xvi, 1-280 pp. Blue cloth with a mounted illustration done in red, black, blue, and grey on the front board, gold lettering on the spine; top edge gilt. With the bookbinder stamp of W.H. Smith & Son of London on the free front endpaper. Illustrated with full-page and… in-text drawings with a plethora of plates containing black and white photographs and drawings by the author. Encylopedia Britannica, "Togo Heihachiro: Japanese admiral". Admiral Heihachiro was instrumental in the Japanese victory over the Russians during the Russo-Japanese war. He was highly innovative when it came to naval battle tactics, and for ten years Heihachiro was in charge of the future Emperor Hirohito's education. Wright's memoir provides an entertaining and historically significant account of the Japanese navy and its command. Light foxing to the textblock, one of the plates detached but laid in and present.
