Hardcover. Limited Edition. Very good+ in decorated brown cloth covered boards with gilt text on a black cloth title block on the spine and elaborate gilt boarders on the front board. The top edge of the text block is gilt with the other edges untrimmed. A small quarto of 9 3/8 by 6 1/4 with rubbing to the cloth at the head and heel of the spine and the cloth is worn through on the tips of the lower edge of the boards. The end sheets and fly title pages are tanned as is the cloth over the spine. Without a dust jacket. One of only 1,000 copies printed for the American publication with this copy identified as number 405 and signed by the illustrator, Rowland Wheelright. 728 pages of text and illustrated with a color frontispiece and 15 color plates by Rowland Wheelwright.
