First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. 134 pages. First printing, with the snakeskin patterned boards and the "dropped 'e' at the bottom of page 51. This was the first book (of 14) published in the series, "The Mandrake Booklets" from the short-lived publisher (1929-1930). It is not a travel book! Written as a reaction to the newly established Irish Censorship of Publications Board, it is a satirical work reflecting O'Flaherty's objections to reactionary Irish politicians and Catholic priests. The book is clean and tight, with an interesting non-authorial inscription on the front free endpaper and a small plain bookplate of a previous owner; there is some wear along the bottom edges of the boards. The dust jacket is in about good condition:, with some soiling; a few chips; and tanning along the spine. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Book.
