Spine is tight, strong with uncracked hinges, however, severe scuffing and rubbing is evident overall. Black leatherette spine strip and gold. Text on the spine is remarkably bright and readable. Half inch chip on bottom of spine and upper rear hinge is starting to separate. Front and rear end papers and text have some foxing. The pages are not brittle and text type size is larger and very readable for its 1856 copyright.
