An affirmation, though not quite entirely, of Francis Everett Townsend's old-age pension proposal made during the Great Depression. Known as the Townsend Plan, this proposal influenced the establishment of the Roosevelt administration's S…ocial Security system. While Townsend wrote the introduction to this book, a partial re-explanation of the Plan by Townsend and his rejection of changes to the plan proposed by Downey in the book is tipped in at the title page. Condition notes: 122 numbered pp; HB. Pages: clean, ivory, tight; frequent penciled margin bars, several dog ears, a.e. mildly sunned. Cover: med blue cloth, black titles front/spine; moderate shelfwear, extrems worn, soiled. Of historical and social interest.
