Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Very good, with a page of introductions and a page of 46 paintings listed, along with, usefully, prices in guineas. The front cover has a large raised plate with an arresting colour self portrait of Tretchikoff the artist. Raised plate is slight creased but the condition overall is very good. Date 1960 printed in small writing on the back cover. Many now famous paintings are listed. One of the more scarce exhibition catalogues of this artist's work.

VERY GOOD folio-sized hardcover, SIGNED and dated 1954 by Tretchikoff, limited edition (#416 of 1500), bound in textured cloth with gilt titles and an internal ring binding. Tipped-in color plates, and many black-and-white plates throughout. Wear at the extremities.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Included with the book is one print, "Dying Swan", which has been signed by the artist and is suitable for framing. The book itself is not signed however. The boards are rubbed, edge worn and marked, but remain strong and sturdy. Internally, there are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages within are neat and complete. Tightly bound and presented in its own rather worn slipcase. JK. One of 1500 copies of the deluxe edition especially published for America, signed by Tretchikoff and this being copy number 339. Published by Howard Timmins for George Allen & Unwin, London. Bound in pebbled, gold, paper covered boards with writing in gilt on front cover. Age toning to pages and endpapers as per usual. Cover corners bruised and head and tail of spine are beginning to split. Still a very nice copy.

This copy is NEAR FINE; the text is clear, bright, and unmarked; spiral binding is tight, but front pages show a bit of age; the art repructions are in excellent condition; the vellum paper enclosing the book has aged. The jacket is also near fine: intact, including perfect color and design, the Swan Lake painting on the front of the jacket is excellent except for some wear marks on the spine edge; also there is a smudge bottom lfront at spine. About this Item There is a neat flowing hand signature by Tretchikoff and inscription next to his frontispiece portrait: "To Margaret with my sincere best wishes. V. Tretchikoff 19-12-52". Very good condition, clean and tight, in gold titled white leatherette boards. in a very good slipcase decorated with the Dying Swan print as a raised plate on the front. The inside board and the first four leaves have a tiny fully repaired hole . Inscribed to Margaret ("Peggy") Roscoe, who, after her Cape Town years, lived near Hartley, Southern Rhodesia ( now Chegutu, Zimbabwe ), but socialised with Tretchikoff on numerous occasions, including canasta sessions with him and his wife at their splendid mansion in Bishopscourt, Cape Town. Her iconic painting Crayfish Seller, which she bought prior to 1952, was later exhibited in Durban with her permission in 1959, and became one of the subjects of the artist's many and profuse lithographic reproductions, all iconic monuments to mid century "kitsch". She later made a Christmas card of her painting on a raised plate, a scarce original of which is also for sale by us at the time of listing. Inscribed by Author(s).
