Microscopic signs of loss to top front cover, apart from which this book is in overall Near Fine condition. The novel, though primarily about three Indians- Dev, Tony and Arjun- in Britain is, in a broad sense, about alienation of the young- heightened in this instance by physical displacement and cultural differences. With great facility for characterisation and dialogue Dilip Hiro has created an intricately woven story where Indian, Irish and British characters meet and interact unselfconsciously. But, more importantly, he established with enviable assurance and sophisticated wit, an Indian anti-hero in a British setting. The result is a novel of the social realism genre where humour, irony and drama are admirably blended. Signed by Author(s).
